This Week....

I don't know why, but this M-F week flew by.... maybe because it was filled with fun things.   Our time in California is disappearing before our eyes and Capri is getting so big.  We have lots of great friends here and it seems like there is something fun going on daily.

Monday:  Bachelor Party at Andrea's with yummy treats and funny commentary.
Tuesday:  Pool Day!  I host and usually 10-15 moms come with their kiddos. Ran our fastest minute mile yet- 7:24.
Wednesday: Capri and I wore our stripes to shop the sales with Paige at the mall.  We found Capri and Aubrey matching swimsuits at H&M for $1.... yeah baby! Then met Daddy for lunch at Applebees.  Ran 7 miles on a new trail, we actually ran our last 4 minutes in the dark because we got such a late start.
Thursday: Grocery shopping (which is fun for me).  Picked up Tori to go see the hubbies play in a work basketball tournament and enjoyed their catered BBQ.  Later that afternoon I went to the  park for a photography class put on by my church.  Met up with another group of church girls for a running activity preparing for the stake 5k & 10k.  Landon worked out, played basketball, and folded all of the laundry when I got home, love him.
Friday:  Lunch break lunch date at California Sourdough with the Hoopers and Samuelson's.  Best. Bread. Ever.  After work Landon and Craig lifted weights while Tori and I hung out, then we went to Red Robbin, the boys fixed our flat tire, and then back to our place for dessert.
Saturday:  Yucky morning, between waking up late, tire problems, and traffic we didn't get our run in. We are going to make up for it Monday.  Jordan & Brooke, and Dallin & Kayla came over and hung out by our pool, then we went to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory to celebrate Jordan's birthday.

Despite our bummer Saturday morning, it was a great week and we can't believe we only have 4 more weeks left here!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JORDAN!

Family.... isn't it about time?

This photo is from our run today and I just had to share.  It is so nice to go out and do something as a family and I hope we always make time for these kinds of activities and each other.   Running has been great for spending time together just as much as it has been for exercise.  I might as well note that we ran under 8min miles today....we are getting faster. It was only 3 miles today, not sure we could do that with more miles.

Monterey Bay and Carmel

We had another wonderful weekend.  We only have five Saturdays left until Landon's internship in California is over so we are trying to take advantage of as much as we can, even when the weather is not sunny beach weather. It never is in northern California, but some days are better than others.  We drove to Monterey Bay Saturday morning and began our 13 mile run at Lover's Point.  We both felt great after our run and it really wasn't too hard!  The physical body amazes me.  It's crazy to think four months ago my body was housing a little baby and now I'm running further than I've ever run before.  I feel so blessed to be healthy and have a healthy family.  The views on our run were beautiful.  Landon says the beaches here are a tease and he's never been a fan of overcast, but I thought it was perfect for our run.  I do like listening to music while we run, we usually leave one headphone out so we can hear Capri if she cries.  Landon told me I listen to wimpy music so I listened to a rap station on Pandora half way through the run and loved it ha ha!  I don't even know what any of the songs were saying, I just liked the beat. After our run we changed our clothes in the car (so no, we didn't shower in these pictures!) and met up with the Hoopers and Samuelson's to eat at a yummy Mexican Restaurant.  Our booth overlooked the water and we watched a sea lion hang out on the rocks. The Hooper's have been awesome about showing us around and wanted to take us to their  favorite beach in Carmel.  It was the prettiest beach we've seen in the area.  We played around, tossed a football, kicked a soccer ball, and too a walk to Pebble Beach to look for golf balls.   I found my dream house along the way, I think I was drooling. Gorgeous Right?   We loved the beach town of Carmel.  It was fun to see the shops and look at the artwork.  I found myself a candy store and I also loved the Sea Side Children's Boutique, but sorry Capri, I don't think we will ever buy you a swimming suit for sixty dollars while you are still in grade school.  We walked around enough to work up an appetite and went to a pizza place for dinner.  On the way, we got pulled over for running a stop sign, darn it.  It was dark and a little rainy and neither of us could see it; no sympathy from the officer though.  Landon already got his first ticket in California for being on his phone in the car  just a few days after we got here.  We innocently (I guess it was more ignorantly) didn't know that there was a law about cell phones here.  Oh well.  Tickets stink, you just have to pay up and try not to think about it.  At least we didn't let it ruin our fun weekend!

Don't we look fabulous in our running attire?  I decided to document it anyway :)

Landon and Craig Sporting their favorite college teams.  At least Craig actually has ties to his school.
My Dream house.  Looks good on us right?

Landon just had to throw a football on Pebble Beach Golf Coarse.

A Weekend for the Body & Soul

The month of July is the heart of summer, and we are loving it so far.  Friday night we had a BBQ with the Samuelsons and Hoopers.  We extended our holiday and wore our patriotic colors, one day Capri won't want to match her mom so I'm soaking it up now.  I should have taken a family photo because Landon's white shirt matched us too. Hayden and Capri were in their yellows so we weren't the only matching family. We of coarse had a great time at the Hoopers and love being entertained by Hayden, four years old is such a fun age!

This Saturday we tried the Los Gatos trail that goes through Santa Clara county for our 11 mile run. I took a few pictures with my iPhone and am getting good and snapping on the go.  It was a great paved trail which was nice for the stroller, but we didn't like sharing the trail with so many runners and bikers.  We should be happy that there were so many people that wanted to get out and exercise and enjoy their Saturday too.  Capri was awesome on the run as always.... that alone should make us want to run more often!  The 7mph sign made me smile, we don't run quite that fast on long runs, but it's funny to think of runners having to reduce their speed.  We were actually supposed to run 13 miles, but I wanted to stop at 11. My excuses weren't very good and I should have just finished, but my feet were killing me and I wanted to have enough time to get ready for our temple trip.  I think my feet grew during pregnancy because my running shoes feel too small now and my feet are showing signs of it.  Next week is only 10 miles so maybe we can run 13 instead to make up for it.  I'm still not sure I'm capable of running a marathon, I'm such a head case, but for now I'm enjoying exploring California with Landon and Capri.   Landon is a champion as usual.

We were able to spend the later half of our Saturday in Oakland.  We met up with the Hoopers and the Samuelsons to attend the temple.  Landon and I watched their kids first and then went in while they watched Capri.  Capri is so high maintenance that I felt better about being the couple to watch all of the kids.  The three other kids combined were still better than Capri, (sigh) good thing we love her like crazy.  I was really worried about leaving Capri because her crying/shrilling is the kind that can only be tolerated by parents that love her very much; meaning- it's really loud and hard on the nerves, especially if you're not used to hearing it multiple times a day.  Calming her down from a melt down can be pretty tricky.  Thankfully Heavenly Father answered my prayer and Capri did great while Landon and I were inside the temple.  The Hoopers and Samuelsons knew how worried I was about leaving Capri and I think they would have told me she did okay even if she did freak out!  We were so grateful for the opportunity to attend the temple and for sweet friends that were willing to watch Capri.  Afterwards we went to Baja Mexican Resturant and then to Fennton's Creamery for dessert.  I hope the Hoopers and Sameulsons aren't tired of us because we sure enjoyed our weekend hanging out with them!
